Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis, relaxation, and positive imagery; it is usually performed in a relaxing session by a qualified hypnotherapist. That's the 'cut and dried' definition, but in practice, hypnotherapy is much more than that.
Hypnotherapy can be learned, and so can self-hypnosis. They both bring benefits, such as relaxation, improved confidence, and stopping smoking. They have the potential to alleviate several fears, phobias and unwanted habits.
It is a safe and straightforward practice where clients relax in a chair. No need for sleep -- close your eyes and listen (or half listen) to the therapist as he speaks. Hypnotherapy does not physically reshape a person, but it does go to the subconscious mind, where deep feelings are stored.
The purpose of hypnosis and hypnotherapy is to achieve positive benefits in the client's future life.
We call our version of the above-described process Mind Achievements.
